Minor Workplace Mishaps Neednít Lead to Lasting Stains!

by Brad Staines

Accidents happen and having reliable cleaners on hand who can be called in on an emergency basis to deal with major mishaps is vital, as is having cleaners who can deal with difficult situations and stubborn stains. But when there’s a minor mishap it’s good for you to know how to deal with it so it doesn’t cause lasting damage and spoil the appearance of your office, particularly in areas on view to the public.

Here at Aquamark our cleaners are fully trained to deal with all accidents, spillages and mishaps great and small but we know that we can’t be with you all the time.  To help you cope should a stain disaster occur, we’ve shared a few of our stain busting secrets.

Insider Tips to Help You Divert Disaster

The trick with any kind of spillage, regardless of what it is, is to mop up the excess liquid before you put any kind of cleaning agent or even water onto it.  Putting another liquid onto the stain will only serve to spread the stain a little further.  Mop it all up first with a clean towel or paper towels and when the spillage is just damp, start attacking it with your chosen stain buster.

Here are some methods to help you get rid of that typical office stain:

Coffee

Coffee stains are a real problem in offices up and down the country. A simple and economical method of getting rid of coffee - after you’ve mopped up the excess - is to dab the stain with soda water. Keep dabbing to keep the area from getting too wet and repeat until the stain is lifted.

Chewing Gum

Chewing gum is the scourge of pavements all around the land and it can be a real problem if you get it on your carpet.  It is possible to get rid of it though, if you freeze it first.  Put some ice cubes in a small plastic bag and dab the sticky menace with it. It will freeze and you’ll be able to chip away at it. You can get rid of all stray chewing gum with this method and a bit of patience. Clean the area with carpet cleaner and your vacuum cleaner to clean the whole area after you’ve removed the blot on your carpet.

Ink

Ink is another big problem office carpet stain offender. Blot to get rid of the excess ink and then dab with a stain remover or methylated spirits. The stain will go, but again patience is required here. Clean with carpet cleaner afterwards to freshen up the area.

And if all else fails, call Aquamark! We’ve got rid of stains many office owners thought were there to stay.
