Nine Elms – Battersea
About the project
Nine Elms Point is a striking new residential development in Battersea by Barratt Homes, covering seven buildings and offering 645 modern studios, apartments and penthouses. Each of the seven buildings has stunning contemporary architecture and is surrounded by landscaped gardens, all of which is managed by BRAM. The Aquamark Cleaning team has been asked to supply cradle and water-fed pole window-cleaning services four times per year to make Nine Elms Point look beautiful and sparkling.
The challenges
The ongoing construction work at Nine Elms Point means that a lot of dust accumulates and dirties the exterior of the blocks and their windows. As such, it has been up to our team to ensure that we keep on top of the dust throughout the construction process. Also, site safety has been at the forefront of our minds, as some of the areas that need cleaning are close to passers-by and road users – e.g. the windows of the residential gym that bridge the entrance to the supermarket car park and the pedestrian footpath. On top of that, the site has restricted access, so we are unable to bring our vans close enough to feed our water-fed poles directly from the purified water system in the back of the vehicles – meaning we have had to find another method for using our water-fed poles safely, effectively and efficiently.
Aquamark’s expert solutions
To overcome the access challenge, we decided to use small portable trolleys that pump the purified water through our poles. The water-fed pole system gives us freedom to travel up and down the property in lifts, ensuring we can properly clean all areas of the development, including hard-to-reach areas like the podium garden features. Throughout the project, we undertook careful planning and ensured our highly trained operatives were properly prepared, with site safety at the forefront of their minds. We adhere to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), which is accredited by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).
As well as providing expert water-fed pole and cradle cleaning services, we also pulled out all the stops to help Barratt Homes with an emergency clean on one of their blocks. We had a water-fed pole team onsite in time for the arrival of new residents, and sent an abseil team to complete the clean the following day. Our abseil team also removed the unsightly black runs that had appeared on the white bands separating the storeys – ensuring the property looked as smart and presentable as possible for the new residents.
