With its rich history and intriguing architecture, London has some of the most striking landmarks in the world. Being able to cope with unusual situations – and adapt to seriously challenging locations – is the key to cleaning them.

Aquamark has cleaned all kinds of famous landmarks in and around London. Here’s how we go about it.

All Shapes and Sizes

Landmarks attract thousands of tourists every year, so it’s vital that they’re showcased at their best. The exterior of a building creates a striking first impression when it looks clean and tidy, and so needs to be cleaned to exceptionally high standards.

The Royal Ballet School’s Bridge of Aspiration is just one example. With its curved steel and glass form that snakes high over Covent Garden, it’s a truly breathtaking sight.

Aquamark experts specialise in cleaning awkwardly positioned windows and interesting glass structures. We used specialist equipment, a bespoke cleaning plan and fully qualified cleaners to get up close and clean each panel in the bridge. We also did a full a site survey and defined a clear strategy before we started.

For the Bridge of Aspiration, our team opted for water-fed poles. Water-fed poles can reach heights over 60 feet and are fed using advanced pure water technology, reducing the need for detergents. This solution is ideal for awkwardly shaped glass, as the use of pure water leaves no residue or streaks. It meant that unusual shapes of the windows could be approached with minimum disruption, delivering excellent results and leaving the bridge sparkling clean.

Dizzying Heights

London landmarks come in lots of shapes and sizes. If anything, they’re getting taller.

The imposing heights of some structures call for specialised cleaners skilled in abseiling and other techniques. Clearly, site surveys are essential for this kind of job, since they enable the team to determine the best method of approach. This could even involve liaising with the builders who installed the exterior fittings, especially where a refurbishment has taken place.

Specialist cleaning solutions may also need to be considered to ensure the appropriate pH balance is achieved to suit the exterior.

Where heights are involved, cradle access is the best go-to option, providing the building has anchor points for the equipment. There is often the ground floor paving to consider too; power washing provides a quick and clean option for this.

Quick Turnaround

Sometimes Aquamark is approached at extremely short notice to complete a huge landmark project. At times like this, we deploy a huge team ensure the deadline is met. Our cleaners are used to being flexible, showing up on the dot and working around the clock.

The Aquamark team was approached by Westfield Stratford City to clean all exterior and interior glass and all of the steel handrails in the complex. Westfield is a 1.9 million square foot retail, leisure and business park which is also the gateway to the Olympic Park. In just 48 hours, with three hydraulic platforms sourced, three teams delivered exceptional and flawless standards of professional cleaning to the client’s exact specifications.

No Job Too Small

Aquamark is known for its high profile cleaning jobs, but it also works to deadlines for smaller clients. We may have cleaned some of the most recognisable sights in the capital, but we still work with small businesses to clean offices, signs, gutters and pavements.

When it comes to deadlines, Aquamark Cleaning doesn’t mess about. Our team understands the importance of getting a job done on time, and we know how vital immaculate presentation can be to every client. Get in touch to find out about our outdoor cleaning solutions.
