Harsh winter weather can spell trouble for window cleaners; the usual tools can be rendered useless and the adverse weather conditions can make working conditions hazardous. Brad Staines, Managing Director of Aquamark Cleaning Ltd, discussed the potential difficulties faced by commercial cleaning companies in the winter: “When cleaning windows in the winter we have numerous problems with our regular cold water-fed poles. As the water is pumped through the poles it can freeze, which makes the job impossible and the area all around the site icy and dangerous for the public and our staff.”

To combat these difficulties, Aquamark uses hot water-fed poles. Brad continues, “The hot-water system doesn’t freeze and allows us to complete the job with outstanding results. To combat slip hazards we use rock salt on the pavements too.”
