Aquamark’s team is tasked with some very unusual window cleaning jobs. From twisted bridges to glass-encrusted modern art, our specialist team has cleaned them all.

In order to tackle the most extreme cleaning assignments, each member of the team must have a head for heights. Even something as straightforward as a high-rise building calls for seriously creative techniques to get the exterior surface clean and shiny.

How We Tackle a High Rise

Most window cleaning companies use water fed poles to wash areas above head height. These poles are suitable for areas that are not too dirty, and not too high up.

For areas that need closer attention, such as heavily soiled windows, our window cleaners have to get up close. That means ditching the poles and strapping on the safety gear.

There are two common pieces of equipment used for cleaning at height. The first is a cherry picker – the same equipment used to fix streetlights and carry out other work at height. Window cleaners can be lifted up to clean the windows, providing there is a flat, stable surface outside.

The second piece of equipment we use is a cradle. Cradles are fastened to the roof and lowered down the side of the high rise building using a pulley system.

Cradles can only be used where we can safely anchor the pulleys on the roof, but they provide a very convenient way to clean: cradles can be used at any height with very little disruption to the occupants.

If a building has its own cradle system already, Aquamark can offer training in its use so that everyone who rides in it it is safe.

Extreme Window Cleaning

For some jobs, there’s only one option: cleaning by hand and getting up close. For some high rises, that means abseiling down the side of the building and cleaning windows one by one.

Our experienced window cleaners use high strength ropes and are able to access even the trickiest exterior with ease. By abseiling down the side of the high-rise, they can clean windows by hand, even if they are hundreds of feet in the air.

Abseiling is the best way to clean the fascia, frames and panes of awkward windows, particularly when a cradle cannot be used. Our window cleaners can use abseil techniques to clean dome shaped roofs and buildings where a cherry picker cannot be parked outside.

Naturally, abseil window cleaning can be used at heights that would be inaccessible using other methods. It’s also far safer than leaning out of a high window to try to clean the awkward spots.
